At the Pensacola Humane Society, our staff is small and in need of dedicated volunteers. Volunteers need to share our passion for animals and have a sincere desire to be of assistance to the center. As a volunteer, you are expected to commit a minimum of four hours every month. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years of age to work unaccompanied and in all volunteer fields. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while volunteering with the Pensacola Humane Society. Prior to working directly with animals, volunteers must sign a release form.

As a Pensacola Humane Society volunteer, you will have many opportunities to become involved and help the animals find new homes.

In addition to the special programs, you can:

  • Groom & exercise cats/dogs
  • Clean cages and dog runs
  • Assist the Adoption Counselors
  • Assist the Kennel Technicians
  • Assist at the Spay and Neuter Clinic
  • Launder towels/bedding
  • Help with office tasks
  • Become a Foster care provider

If interested, please fill out an application form and email info@pensacolahumane.org to schedule an appointment for your 60 minute orientation. After orientation is complete you will know who we are, what we do, and how you can help. From orientation, you will enter into assignment training (usually taking place on a different day). Please note, volunteer applications are kept on file for 60 days. You must resubmit your application after 2 months.

Please note, there is a $15 fee to become a volunteer. This fee covers administrative costs, printed materials, and a volunteer t-shirt and will be collected during assignment training.

Orientation fee is $10 with active military ID or student ID.  Student/Military fee does not include a t-shirt.
